Professional Experience

Mr. Jacobs is a litigation partner in the firm’s Los Angeles office.  He is a proven and versatile trial lawyer specializing in commercial and intellectual property disputes in the entertainment and media industries.  Mr. Jacobs has successfully represented prominent individuals and major companies, including Lions Gate Entertainment, William Morris Agency, Warner Music Group, Atlantic Records, Warner/Chappell, Warner Bros. Records, Sony Music Entertainment, J Records, Arista Records, Sony/ATV, EMI Records and EMI Music Publishing, in contract, fraud, tortious interference, fiduciary duty, copyright, idea theft, trademark, right of publicity, unfair competition, labor agreement and royalty actions in federal and state courts and arbitrations across the country.  He also served as Assistant Special Counsel to the Select Committee of Inquiry of the Connecticut House of Representatives in its investigation and hearings concerning the impeachment of Governor John G. Rowland.

Before joining Manatt, Mr. Jacobs was an associate at the law firms of Parcher, Hayes & Snyder and Weil, Gotshal & Manges.  Mr. Jacobs previously was a law clerk to the Honorable Gregory W. Carman, U.S. Court of International Trade.
