Professional Experience

Mr. Bloomgarden has a complex litigation practice focusing on business, insurance and environmental matters.  He has extensive trial experience before judges, juries and arbitrators, including as part of our trial team that secured the largest jury verdict in the United States in 2008 following a three-month jury trial in a complex business dispute. 

Mr. Bloomgarden’s business litigation practice includes representing clients in contract, business tort, antitrust and defamation cases.  His insurance coverage practice consists of representing policyholders, including in first-party property, third-party environmental and insurance insolvency proceedings, and insurers in health care and other unrelated matters.  His environmental litigation practice includes representing both plaintiffs and defendants in private-party cost recovery actions, and defending government enforcement and civil penalty actions.  Mr. Bloomgarden’s clients have included telecommunications companies, manufacturing companies, railroads, software development and implementation companies, real estate companies, health insurers, health care providers, and water companies and agencies.

Mr. Bloomgarden has been awarded a peer review rating of AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell, its highest rating for legal ability and ethical standards.  He clerked for the Honorable Marianna R. Pfaelzer of the United States District Court in Los Angeles from 1983-84.
