Professional Experience

Joseph Ray is a Managing Director of Manatt Health Solutions, a policy and strategic advisory division of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP.  Mr. Ray provides business and technology strategy, planning, process analysis and implementation services to clients in the healthcare industry, with an emphasis on health information technology.

Prior to joining Manatt Health Solutions, Mr. Ray was a director at Object Health, a management consulting group that merged with Manatt Health Solutions. Object Health assisted healthcare organizations and communities with leveraging health information to improve operational efficiencies and health quality outcomes by addressing the intersection of strategic, operational and technical issues of managing healthcare information.  While with Object Health, Mr. Ray worked with healthcare foundations and organizations focused on bridging the gap between clinical information technology solutions, healthcare delivery and healthcare payer organizations in their efforts to achieve improved quality and efficiency of care through successful adoption of clinical information technology within communities and regions. 

Before Object Health, Mr. Ray was director of technology development at CareScience, Inc., a leading provider of care management technology and services to hospitals and health systems.  At CareScience, He was responsible for managing the development of the first release of CareScience’s Care Data Exchange.  Prior to focusing his efforts on healthcare and health information technology, Mr. Ray had more than ten years of strategic, operational and technology strategy consulting experience in a diverse variety of industries.  Prior to his consulting experience, he worked in financial services at Merrill Lynch and in systems design and development with the Chevron Information Technology company.
