Professional Experience
Mr. Dwight’s practice focuses on complex commercial litigation matters, particularly in the areas of real property, securities, corporate shareholder disputes, partnership disputes, and breach of contract actions. Representing both plaintiffs and defendants, Mr. Dwight has represented corporations, partnerships, individual investors, real estate developers, and other entities in a variety of business-related disputes in state and federal court. Mr. Dwight has also handled arbitration proceedings involving securities fraud, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, trade secret misappropriation, and other business torts.
Recently, Mr. Dwight served as second chair in a five week jury trial venued in San Francisco Superior Court representing a commercial property investor in his action against his former real estate broker for constructive fraud and breach of fiduciary duty. Mr. Dwight also recently negotiated significant settlements on behalf of his clients. Mr. Dwight settled substantial M&A litigation venued in federal court arising out of a corporate buyer’s refusal to pay the seller in accordance with a post-closing earn out agreement. On behalf of a plaintiff investor, Mr. Dwight also settled a federal securities fraud and breach of fiduciary duty action filed against a technology company and its board of directors.
In addition, Mr. Dwight has developed significant expertise in eminent domain law, having represented property owners in numerous disputes against public agencies. Mr. Dwight currently advises one of America’s leading transportation companies to ensure that its property interests are protected throughout California.
Mr. Dwight is committed to excellence in pro bono work. In both 2009 and 2010, he was recognized by the California State Bar as a recipient of the Wiley W. Manual Award for voluntary provision of legal services to the poor.
