Joel Ario Discusses Effects on Health Reform if Romney Wins Presidency

"Obama Says Romney Suffers From 'Romnesia,' 'Obamacare' Can Help"
American Health Line

October 22, 2012 - Manatt's Joel Ario, a managing director with Manatt Health Solutions, discussed with American Health Line his predictions for what will happen to health reform if Republicans win the U.S. presidential election.

American Health Line reports that health exchanges could stay under Romney. A victory for the U.S. presidential candidate might not mean the end of the state-based health insurance exchanges under the Affordable Care Act, despite Romney's pledge to repeal the health reform law.

Ario told the publication that if Romney wins and Republications gain control of Congress, "they may be compelled to go through a repeal and replace mechanism of some sort." However, he predicted that "the exchanges will be part of the replace."
