Joel Ario Interviewed on Possible Changes to Health Reform After 2014 Elections

Where the GOP Might Target Obamacare if it Wins the Senate
– Talking Points Memo

Manatt's Joel Ario, a managing director with Manatt Health, spoke to Talking Points Memo about the potential effects that a GOP-controlled Senate in 2015 could have on the Affordable Care Act.

Talking Points Memo reports that nobody is sure what exactly what Republicans would do if they had the opportunity to legislate freely on the healthcare reform law. It's possible they would continue their absolute opposition, or they could make more targeted strikes against the law.

"Nobody can actually, plausibly assert that the law is going to work well in the next five years without any changes," Ario said. "No matter which way the 2014 elections go, it's not going to be decisive enough to either put the law across the finish line for good for everybody, or undermine the law to the point where it goes away. It's going to be a long, hard slog."
