NY's Medical Marijuana Plan

Cuomo Counsel, Legislators and Players on Details of Marijuana Plan
– Capital New York

Capital New York interviewed Manatt's James Lytle, a partner in the firm's Government and Regulatory practice, for an article on the burgeoning industry of medical marijuana in New York.

Capital New York reports that Governor Andrew Cuomo's incoming counsel David Alphonso revealed that the state Department of Health will release final regulations in roughly two weeks, on a medical marijuana law that has been years in the making, in preparation for a new New York industry built around a substance that is outlawed by the federal government.

Lytle said that despite skepticism, there would be ample appetite for investment.

"Despite the regulatory limitations, which are very real, I think there are people who see this is a potential opportunity to come in at the ground level," he said.
