John Heber, a partner in Manatt's LA office, will be a panelist speaking on current issues in executive compensation and benefits in a tele-web seminar sponsored by the California Banker's Association on June 3, 2008 at 11:30AM (Pacific). The following topics will be addressed:

• Discuss the various challenges that community banks face in establishing and administering executive compensation and benefits programs in the current regulatory environment. 
  
  
• The speakers will identify the various tax laws, SEC regulations, OCC and institutional shareholder guidelines and best practices that impact the administration and governance of executive compensation and benefits programs. 
  
  
• The speakers will present compensation data obtained from institutions of various sizes and identify current trends in the banking industry. 
  
  
• The speakers will also discuss the pros and cons of Bank Owned Life Insurance as a means to fund executive compensation obligations, such as deferred compensation, supplemental executive retirement and death benefit plans, versus other funding mechanisms. 
  
  
• The program has been designed to provide banking institutions of various sizes an overview of the challenges of compensating banking executives in this new world of regulation and shareholder scrutiny.
