Professional Experience

Mr. Jacobs is a litigation partner in the firm’s Los Angeles office and Chair of the firm’s Entertainment Litigation Practice.  He is a proven and versatile trial lawyer specializing in commercial, copyright and other intellectual property disputes in the entertainment, media and fine art industries.  Mr. Jacobs has successfully represented top-level talent, as well as movie studios, major record labels and music publishers, talent agencies and brands in contract, fraud, tortious interference, fiduciary duty, copyright, idea theft, trademark, right of publicity, unfair competition, labor agreement and royalty actions in federal and state courts and arbitrations across the country.  Mr. Jacobs also regularly handles and provides strategic advice on non-public claims and disputes.  His clients have included entities ranging from Lions Gate Entertainment, Mandate Pictures, the former William Morris Agency, the Richard Avedon Foundation, MillerCoors, Warner Music Group, Atlantic Records, Warner/Chappell, Warner Bros. Records, Sony Music Entertainment, Sony/ATV, EMI Records and EMI Music Publishing, and leading artists such as Bruce Springsteen, Usher, Jermaine Dupri and Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flatts.

Mr. Jacobs previously was a law clerk to the Honorable Gregory W. Carman, U.S. Court of International Trade.
