Professional Experience
Mr. Rongjie Ma has specialized in representing Chinese and U.S. companies with respect to joint ventures, technology licenses, partnerships, commercial transactions, nontraditional agreements, and other kinds of business transactions between the two countries for almost 30 years. One of the very first lawyers produced by the Chinese justice system, Mr. Ma quickly rose to prominence within China and from there to an international reputation for his skills and the results he achieved for his clients.
Mr. Ma is the first person in the United States to be given a “Certificate of Registration as a Registered Foreign Legal Consultant in the Law of the People’s Republic of China (1992).” The certificate grants the authority to handle legal matters on behalf of American companies that involve disputes within the Chinese legal system.
Mr. Ma has worked as Special Counsel and Director of Asia practice to major U.S. law firms for 26 years. He served as visiting law professor at the schools of law at the University of California at Berkley (1983-1984), the University of Santa Clara (1983-1984), and the University of Minnesota (1981-1983).
Mr. Ma’s understanding of Chinese law and business practices is unmatched. His 28 years of residence in the United States, his law school teaching experience, and his work experience in American private law firms and companies have given him extensive knowledge of American legal and business practices. Mr. Ma’s unique background provides an expeditious path to successful relationships with Chinese businesses and government agencies.
