Professional Experience

Jason Taketa's practice focuses on complex business transactions.  Mr. Taketa is experienced in all aspects of the processes of business acquisitions or divestitures, private and public securities offerings and joint venture formation, including negotiating and drafting of transaction agreements, identifying and mitigating material risks and coordinating the closing process.  Mr. Taketa also advises clients on SEC reporting regulations; corporate governance and strategy; legal risk mitigation; and the formation and structuring of business entities including corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies and joint ventures.

From 2008 through 2010, Mr. Taketa was a seconded in-house attorney with the legal department of the U.S. subsidiary of a Japanese trading company with global operations and investments.  During his secondment, Mr. Taketa managed the legal affairs for the company’s western United States and Canadian divisions and subsidiaries in a variety of industries, including information technology, automotive, heavy machinery, foods and venture capital investment.  Through his secondment, Mr. Taketa gained valuable insights into the business culture and risk tolerances of Japanese companies as well as perspectives on the issues facing companies engaging in international commerce and investment.
