Manatt Adds Noted Environmental Attorney Benjamin "Ted" Wolff
New York, NY - January 29, 2008 - Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, the national law and consulting firm, announced today that Benjamin "Ted" Wolff has joined the firm's New York office as a partner in the Energy, Environment and Natural Resources practice. A transactional and compliance specialist, as well as a litigator, Mr. Wolff was previously a partner at Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP.

Mr. Wolff's litigation experience in federal and state, administrative and judicial actions includes enforcement, cost recovery, toxic tort, regulatory compliance, and permitting-related matters.
Mr. Wolff has worked with federal, state, and local regulators to develop non-traditional approaches to address contaminated property to facilitate property restoration, redevelopment, reuse, or sale. A former environmental consultant, he has also counseled clients on compliance with environmental laws and rules, and he advises on the environmental aspects of land transfers and on other issues arising out of other real estate and corporate transactions.
Mr. Wolff's federal and state Superfund cases include American Chemical Services, GEMS Landfill, Cinnaminson Township Landfill, MIG/DeWane Landfill, PCB Treatment Inc., Muncie Race Track, H&H Recycling, G&H Landfill, National Airport Site, Krejci Dump Site, Nankin Township Landfill, Port Refinery Superfund Site and Wingate Road Site.
Mr. Wolff has counseled clients on compliance with federal, state and local environmental laws and rules which regulate air pollution, pesticides; use and handling of PCBs, hazardous substance and hazardous waste handling, storage and treatment, asbestos handling, management and abatement; and employee and community disclosure (including SARA Title III and the Hazard Communication Standard). Ted also advises clients on environmental aspects of land transfers and on issue arising out of other real estate and corporate transactions.
Mr. Wolff is a chapter author of Environmental Law in Illinois (Springfield, IL: Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education 1996) and a contributing author to Designing an Effective Environmental Compliance Program (New York: Clark Boardman Callaghan 1993).
A member of the New York and Illinois Bars, Mr. Wolff holds a J.D. from New York University and a B.A., with distinction and cum laude, from Colby College.
