Spatz Quoted in Bloomberg Law on FDA Announcement Approving Importation of Drugs From Canada

Biden FDA Approves Florida Plan to Import Drugs From Canada
– Bloomberg Law

Manatt Health Senior Advisor Ian Spatz was quoted in Bloomberg Law on the Biden Administration’s recent approval of drug imports from Canada to Florida.

In the article, Spatz stated that the announcement isn’t particularly surprising, as the FDA had previously set out a clear pathway for imports. Spatz was skeptical about the potential savings from the move, noting that it’s “doubtful that anyone will see real savings from what few imported products will enter the U.S. under the scheme approved today.”

Commenting on the federal regulations and Florida’s plan, Spatz added that they will “require the Canadian exporter to acquire product directly from the manufacturer. I expect that manufacturers will not want to make such sales if their product will be exported.”
