Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP is seeking a highly qualified associate with two to five years of regulatory, litigation and/or enforcement experience to join our consumer financial services practice.
Ideal candidates will have substantial consumer financial services experience, including familiarity with federal and state consumer protection statutes and their implementing regulations (e.g., FDCPA, FCRA, TILA, EFTA, TCPA, state and federal UDAP/UDAAP laws). The position will be focused primarily on litigation and regulatory enforcement matters, but also may include some regulatory compliance work.
At Manatt, our consumer financial services practice represents a wide variety of clients, including banks, mortgage lenders and servicers, credit card issuers, auto finance companies, student lenders, specialty finance companies, institutional investors, and nonfinancial companies offering products and services subject to consumer financial protection laws, such as retailers, sports and entertainment companies, and telecommunication and satellite television service providers. A rapidly expanding part of our practice is advising emerging companies in the fintech space, including online lenders and mobile payment companies, regarding the application of legacy laws to their disruptive technologies.
- Two to five years of regulatory, litigation and/or enforcement experience, at least one to two years of which related to consumer financial services
- Outstanding academic credentials
- Excellent writing, research and communication skills
- California Bar membership in good standing (or admission pending after passing California bar)
