Manatt Entertainment Partner Named to Variety’s 2012 Dealmaker Impact Report

Manatt's Lindsay Conner, a partner in the firm's Entertainment & Media Practice, has been named to Variety's 2012 Dealmaker Impact Report, an annual list profiling the entertainment industry's most influential movers and shakers. A special breakfast was held December 10 for the honorees in Los Angeles, and featured a panel discussion with the who's who of Hollywood's biggest deals.

Conner, a veteran outside counsel for studios, networks and distribution companies, has been recognized by Variety for his global film and television client base. He recently represented a Swiss bank in its $50 million production loan to "The Wolf of Wall Street," one of the most expensive indie film projects of 2012.

"In finance, production and distribution alike, we need to bridge cultures and continents to create a winning team," Conner told Variety about the deal.

In its profile of Conner, Variety also highlighted his work on Sony Pictures Entertainment's $150 million pact with Hemisphere Capital Management. Conner was lead counsel in the slate co-financing deal for SPE tentpole "The Smurfs," "The Adventures of Tintin" and "Men in Black III."

"In today's economic climate, closing studio slate deals is like diplomacy; they require a careful aligning of interest, great attention to complex details, and an instinct for problem-solving," said Conner.

This is Conner's second appearance on the prestigious list. He was also featured by Variety earlier this year, appearing in the publication's 2012 Legal Impact Report, which featured 50 lawyers who are considered "game changes" in the entertainment industry.
