The Hollywood Reporter Names Lee Phillips a 2012 Power Lawyer

The Hollywood Reporter honored Manatt’s L. Lee Phillips, a senior partner in the firm’s Los Angeles office, by selecting him for its prestigious Power Lawyers list for the sixth consecutive year. The annual list features Hollywood’s 100 most influential attorneys in the talent, litigation, corporate and “troubleshooter” categories.

Phillips has been recognized by The Hollywood Reporter as a leading talent lawyer since the list debuted in 2007. He has been a leader in the music industry for more than 35 years, representing major musicians and recording artists such as Barbra Streisand, Steve Perry of Journey, The Eagles, Tracy Chapman and Neil Young.

This year, Phillips was featured for his recent renegotiating of Streisand’s Columbia Records contract, which will keep the music icon at the same record label for 50 years. He was also recognized for his track record of representing Hollywood legends, including Sonny and Cher in the 1960s and Bill Cosby in the 1970s.

Phillips told the publication that representing American Idol judge Randy Jackson has been one of the most satisfying moments. “It’s satisfying because I just adore the guy,” said Phillips, who has been repping Jackson since 1984, when he was the bass player in Journey.
