Yen, Marks and Tashman Featured in Variety’s 2019 Legal Impact Report

Variety named four Manatt Entertainment partners to its 2019 Legal Impact Report, an annual list that highlights the top attorneys in the entertainment business and the major deals they have made over the past year. The list includes Manatt Entertainment leader Lindsay Conner and entertainment partners Sophia Yen, Larry Marks and Monika Tashman.

In its profile of Conner and Yen, who are featured as a deal team, the publication details the team’s $250 million financing deal for China’s Perfect World Pictures and a $500 million, 50-film co-finance agreement for Universal Pictures. The profile also recognizes the team’s work with Rigmora Holdings, Michael Eisner’s Torante Co., Wavelength productions and O2 Filmes. Conner and Yen were also highlighted as a deal team in Variety’s 2018 edition of the Legal Impact Report, and Conner was featured in the report in 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2017.

Marks was recognized in his profile for his representation of writers Scott Beck and Bryan Woods in their adaptation of Stephen King’s “The Boogeyman” and their screenwriting role on blockbuster film “A Quiet Place.” Marks’s other clients include Michael Douglas, the Louis L’Amour literary estate, Japan’s Wowow, and a range of music-themed stage plays and music/film celebrity books.

The publication’s profile of Tashman notes that she represents Papa Roach, an alt-rock band that recently won Pandora’s Billion Streams Award; Foundry Literary and Media; and rock band Pretty Reckless, featuring lead singer Taylor Momsen. Tashman has also advised a film company on intellectual property matters and women-led businesses.
