Variety Names Seven Manatt Partners to 2020 Legal Impact Report

Variety named seven Manatt Entertainment partners to its 2020 Legal Impact Report, an annual list that highlights the top attorneys in the entertainment business and the major deals they were involved in over the past year. This year’s list includes Manatt Entertainment Leader Lindsay Conner and Leader of the firm’s entertainment transactions and finance practice Jordan Bromley, as well as entertainment partners Sophia Yen, Jeff Biederman, Gary Gilbert, Lee Phillips and Monika Tashman.

In its profile of Conner and Yen, who are featured as a deal team, the publication details the team’s eight-figure investment agreement between New Republic Pictures and Amblin Entertainment over Oscar-winning film “1917,” as well as their co-representation of Southern California-based East West Bank in connection with a loan facility agreement for the production of hit TV series “Yellowstone.” Conner and Yen have been highlighted as a deal team in the Legal Impact Report since 2018, and Conner was featured in the report in 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2017.

Manatt’s music practice, led by Bromley, and including Biederman, Gilbert, Phillips and Tashman, was also featured for advising on some of the most high-profile deals in the music industry, including negotiating the sale of Paul Anka’s large music catalog to Primary Wave Entertainment, and representing Miles Davis Properties in its new administration deal with Downtown Music Publishing.
