The Hill quoted Manatt’s Jocelyn Guyer, a managing director with Manatt Health, in an article analyzing how the new Affordable Care Act repeal and replace legislation could financially impact various states.

The publication explained that states with lower healthcare costs could see funding increases as a result of the proposed Graham-Cassidy bill. By 2026, Georgia, Mississippi and Alabama are expected to see billions of dollars more from the federal government than they would receive under current legislation.

“Southern states that have a history of not investing a significant amount in their Medicaid programs, the money will flow to them” because they’ve been spending less, explained Guyer.
