UMG Beats Blues Musician’s Suit Over Song Sample

U.S. District Judge Amy J. St. Eve dismissed with prejudice Syl Johnson’s third amended complaint against UMG, which alleged the company has sold and shipped a soundtrack and other products containing samples of Johnson’s “I Feel the Urge” to Illinois and other states since 1991 without paying him, saying the lawsuit failed to establish specific jurisdiction over UMG.
