Could Netflix Get Into the Sports TV Rights Game?

Manatt’s Eunice Shin, managing director of Manatt Digital, was interviewed by Variety for an article on the battle for sports television rights in advance of the 2018 Winter Olympics and Super Bowl LII.

According to the publication, Amazon, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Verizon have picked up smaller sets of mostly nonexclusive rights to different packages of live professional sporting events, while NBCUniversal has rights to the upcoming Olympics and Super Bowl.

While Netflix content chief Ted Sarandos has sworn the company has zero interest in getting into the sports game, Shin commented that “there’s never a never with Netflix.”
