Is Cynthia Nixon a Threat to Gov. Cuomo?

Capital Tonight
– Spectrum News

Manatt’s Bruce Gyory, a senior advisor in the firm’s government and regulatory practice, was interviewed by Liz Benjamin on Spectrum News’ Capital Tonight to discuss the New York gubernatorial race.

Benjamin mentioned that the race for governor is unsettled, and asked Gyory how much of a problem potential candidate Cynthia Nixon could pose for New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

“My sense is, when you look at who votes in Democratic primaries and how the governor is positioned, he is not where he was four years ago where a perfect storm was coming together,” said Gyory.

“For Nixon to be perceived as doing well, she has to beat Zephyr Teachout; if she only gets 20 or 25 [percent], that’s political deflation.”
