Manatt’s Lisl Dunlop, co-chair of the firm’s antitrust and competition practice, was interviewed by Bloomberg Law for an article on the Federal Trade Commission’s skepticism toward state-enabled hospital monopolies.

The publication explained that the FTC is on a winning streak when it comes to enforcing antitrust law in hospital merger cases, so provider entities looking to merge may need to seek new ways to get their mergers through.

“There is something a little different about healthcare, and competition is not the panacea for all ills. It’s not going to ensure someone who can’t afford to pay gets what many of us believe is a human right: access to health care,” said Dunlop.
