Manatt’s John Gatti, co-chair of the firm’s entertainment, media and sports litigation practice, moderated a panel at the 2018 VRS Conference organized by Greenlight Insights.
Major titans in virtual reality, augmented reality and mixed reality attended the conference to collaborate and share ideas. Gatti moderated a panel of leaders in the location based entertainment (LBE) VR industry, setting the stage for speakers Guy Primus from The VR Company, Kevin Vitale from VR Studios and Marcie Jastrow from Technicolor.
During the panel discussion, Gatti and the speakers discussed trends and developments in VR content, headsets and simulators and intellectual properties. In addition, the panel reviewed business and monetization models that will grip the industry in both the near and far future, noting that the best model in today’s LBE VR climate is the per minute usage fee.
“My discussion with this expert panel confirmed many of my own opinions regarding the future possibilities that exist for the development of massive IP and entertainment brands in LBE VR experiences,” said Gatti. “These experiences should continue to grab a larger portion of the public’s entertainment dollars if proper attention is paid to creating compelling story telling in an inviting environment.”
