Civica Rx CEO Martin Van Trieste said he supports Amazon’s efforts to disrupt the healthcare industry with a new healthcare entity, Haven. The entity will be a joint effort between Amazon, J.P. Morgan and Berkshire Hathaway and will be based in Boston. Suennen agreed, saying that tech companies have a unique opportunity to enter the industry. “Government and legacy businesses alike have their hands tied by perverse financial incentives, making them unlikely candidates for disruption,” she said.
