Manatt’s Gregg Nunziata, a partner in the government and regulatory group, spoke with Fox News on potential repercussions of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s testimony before Congress on July 24.

Mueller answered questions from two House committees on his recent report, delving into the Trump administration’s alleged collusion with Russia on the 2016 presidential election.

Nunziata said he does not believe this hearing “fan[ned] the flames of impeachment,” as some Democrats in Congress have said, nor does he think voters will push for impeachment.

“I don’t think Congress is going to hear a lot of demands from voters when they go home this week to start an impeachment process,” he said. “Impeachment has become less likely, and we’re more likely to have Donald Trump face the voters [in the 2020 presidential election], and the voters will render their judgment, rather than Congress through that process.”
