Manatt’s Jack Quinn, leader of the firm’s regulatory and government group, spoke with CNN about the upcoming testimony of Special Counsel Robert Mueller, and guidance from the Department of Justice for Mueller on what he can and cannot speak about during his testimony.

The Department of Justice told Mueller to stay within the “boundaries” of his report on alleged Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, according to CNN.

When asked about what questions Mueller might answer during his testimony, Quinn said that Mueller should make it “abundantly clear that the President’s conduct satisfied the terms of obstruction of justice.”

“There is no point more important than making clear that this is a case where somebody essentially got away with a major crime because of the privilege of being elected to the presidency,” he said. “I think that needs to come through loud and clear here repeatedly.”
