Manatt’s Gregg Nunziata, a partner in the firm’s government and regulatory practice, spoke to Fox News on Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s recent assertion that the country is undergoing a “constitutional crisis.”
Pelosi, as well as House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler, said on May 8 that President Donald Trump and his administration are “not honoring the oath of office” by pledging to fight any incoming subpoenas from Congress.
When asked if Trump’s recent actions signal an impending crisis, Nunziata said he was skeptical.
“We are a very long way away from a constitutional crisis,” he said. “That phrase has more to do with Democratic politics than a constitutional reality. It’s a way of tiptoeing up to the line of impeachment, but not crossing it.”
