Guyer Quoted in Inside Health Policy’s Special Report on the SUPPORT Act

Administration's Delays In Implementing Major Opioid Law Hinder Efforts To Curb Crisis
– Inside Health Policy

Manatt Health managing director Jocelyn Guyer spoke with Inside Health Policy for a Special Report on the implementation of the SUPPORT Act and the administration’s delay in fulfilling many of the law’s requirements. According to the article, this bipartisan law seeks to combat the opioid epidemic—which is responsible for the deaths of 130 Americans on average daily—by providing federal and state officials new tools to combat opioid dependence and other drug addictions. Guyer noted that while delays in implementing major legislation are not uncommon, “the difference [with the SUPPORT ACT] is that the epidemic is so pressing, and it is at such a crisis point.”
