Forbes Article Proposes That NCAA Separate From Power Five Conferences in Football and Men's Basketball

In an article in Forbes.com today, the Chair of Manatt's Sports Law Practice Group, Ron Katz, proposed that, in order to preserve amateurism, the NCAA separate from the so-called Power Five schools in football and men's basketball. For the remaining more than 1100 NCAA schools, Katz proposes a drastically simplified version of the current 391-page NCAA rule book. He also proposes a modification of the NCAA disciplinary process, in which retired judges would replace NCAA members as judicial officers. The full article is linked here.
