Jason Taketa is an M&A and corporate finance attorney for companies, business owners and investors engaging in complex and transformative middle-market transactions.
Often acting as outside general counsel, Jason provides advice on his clients’ significant transactions, whether they are business acquisitions or divestitures, corporate financings, strategic partnerships, joint ventures, or fund formations.
While he has considerable depth of experience in the technology, media/entertainment, marketplace lending and consumer product industries, Jason’s interdisciplinary practice and cross-industry skill set allow him to expertly handle a wide variety of transactions. During the course of his career, Jason has guided his clients through acquisitions, investments and divestitures of a diverse array of middle-market businesses, including consumer product companies, manufacturers, software and technology companies, wineries and farming operations, media and entertainment companies, feature film libraries, lending and financial institutions, insurance companies, waste disposal operators, billboard portfolios, and music labels.
His commonsense, practical approach to his clients’ needs comes from his two-year secondment to Mitsui & Co. (U.S.A.) Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of the global Japanese trading company, Mitsui & Co. Ltd., where he managed the legal affairs for the company’s western U.S. information technology, automotive, foods and technology divisions. This experience enables Jason to work as part of a collective team with his clients to more effectively structure transactions and negotiate agreements in order to achieve the desired business results, maximize the value to the client and increase the likelihood of getting the deal closed.
