What's Next for Madden v. Midland?

Midland Appeals to U.S. Supreme Court
– AltFi News

AltFi News interviewed Manatt's Brian Korn, a partner in the firm's Capital Markets practice, for an article on the next chapter in the Madden v. Midland case.

AltFi News reports that the Second Circuit recently rejected the appeal of Midland Funding to overturn a District Court's ruling related to a debt owed by the plaintiff, the right to which Midland Funding had acquired from Bank of America in 2008. Midland has now appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Korn told AltFi News that the Supreme Court could rule on the motion "at any time." It's worth noting, however, that there is no guarantee that the Court will hear the Madden case at all.

"Cases have poor chances of being heard generally, but with the arguments presented and the buzz the case has received, I give it a 50% chance," said Korn.
