Joel Ario Quoted on Reopening of ACA Marketplace

As Affordable Care Act Marketplace Reopens, Consumers Get a Chance to Shop
– The Philadelphia Inquirer

Manatt's Joel Ario, a managing director with Manatt Health, was quoted by The Philadelphia Inquirer for an article on the reopening of the Affordable Care Act marketplace on November 15.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that the second open enrollment period begins November 15, and officials will try hard to avoid a repeat of last year's shaky launch of healthcare.gov.

"I think it will be smoother than the last time, but certainly it won't be perfect," said Ario.

This year, first-time buyers will have a shorter application form to fill out, and the website will likely offer a wider variety of plans. At least one new insurer is expected to enter the region's marketplace.

With new competition, consumers who shop "could find a better deal," Ario said. The government is encouraging shopping by giving consumers a preview this week of the upgraded website and coverage options.
