Manatt Expands Financial Services and Banking Practice in San Francisco

David Gershon Brings Extensive Experience to Nationally Recognized Team.

Manatt announced that David Gershon has joined the San Francisco office as a partner in the Financial Services and Banking practice. He joins the firm from Bingham McCutchen LLP.

Gershon focuses on securities and general corporate matters for financial institutions and technology companies. His experience includes mergers and acquisitions, securities law compliance, private placements and corporate governance. Gershon was formerly general counsel of a Nasdaq-listed semiconductor company and a venture-backed software developer.

"David is a highly respected lawyer in the financial services industry who has a sophisticated understanding of the complex business matters of financial institutions," said Craig Miller, co-chair of the firm's Financial Services and Banking practice. "The knowledge, skills and experience he brings to the firm add immediate depth to our talented national team. We are pleased to welcome David to Manatt."

Gershon advises clients regarding bank regulatory and holding company matters. He has handled acquisition and control issues, supervision and enforcement matters and the organization of de novo banks.

"Manatt presents an excellent opportunity and platform to further expand my practice," Gershon said. "The firm is well-known in the financial services industry, particularly in the area of banking, and their emphasis on excellent client service resonated with me. I look forward to collaborating with my new colleagues across the country."

Gershon is the latest in a series of high-profile partner additions to Manatt in February, with top entertainment litigator John M. Gatti joining the firm in Los Angeles and leading payments systems and digital and virtual currencies lawyer Carol Van Cleef in Washington, D.C.

Manatt is recognized as one of the leading financial services law firms in the United States, counseling more than 300 financial institutions across the nation and abroad. The firm represents virtually every type of financial institution, including commercial banks, domestic and foreign financial holding companies and bank holding companies, savings institutions, savings and loan holding companies, representative and agency offices of foreign banks, leasing companies, industrial loan companies, specialty finance companies, trust companies, and credit unions.

Gershon earned a B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles, a J.D. from Loyola Law School and an LL.M. from Boston University School of Law.
