"Q&A: Patricia Boozang of Manatt Health Solutions is Optimistic on Likely Enrollment in Exchanges"
Bloomberg Brief Healthcare Finance

October 11, 2013 - In a special Q&A feature, Manatt's Patricia Boozang, a managing director with Manatt Health Solutions, spoke to Bloomberg about her optimism of the newly launched health insurance exchanges.

Boozang told Bloomberg that the glitches seen during the opening of the exchanges will likely be rapidly improved. However, communication on the value of insurance will be important to ensure younger, healthier patients enroll. When asked how many people she expects to enroll and when, Boozang replied:

"We know people will come on board with January 1 effective dates. The initial numbers we saw on day one in terms of the volume of people visiting the sites makes me optimistic. I think the number will be close to the congressional budget office projection of seven million. We are seeing some encouraging news from states on the number of applications they have taken and the number of people that were pre-authorized as eligible for exchange coverage in states based on low income."
