Wall Street Journal Interviews Manatt Healthcare Chair on Demand for Specialized ACA Lawyers

June 16, 2013 - The Wall Street Journal interviewed Manatt's William Bernstein, chair of the firm's Healthcare Division, on the increased demand for lawyers specializing in health reform law.

As reported by the Wall Street Journal, healthcare companies that are racing to comply with the Affordable Care Act are increasingly seeking specialized lawyers. Some law firms are seizing the opportunity by expanding their healthcare groups, adding lawyers who specialize in a range of industry issues, from complex hospital mergers to Medicare audits appeals.

Though complying with the ACA is a priority for healthcare companies, it's not their only concern. Some pieces of the ACA will also shift how hospitals and insurers do business, generating more work for attorneys needed to structure deals and contracts.

"The organizational structures and the way health care is being organized and paid for is changing at a really rapid rate," said Bernstein.
