Variety quoted Manatt’s Lindsay Conner, co-chair of the firm’s Entertainment and Media practice, for an article about IM Global’s sale to Tang Media Partners and TMP’s simultaneous launch of a television production joint venture with Chinese media company Tencent.
“It’s always hard to assess the impact of an innovation,” said Conner, who advised TMP in its deal with Tencent. “If it succeeds, it will be replicated a number of times. These parties have created for the first time a co-financing structure on the TV side that could work.”
