Orris Quoted in Inside Health Policy On the HHS's COVID-19 Provider Relief Fund’s Reopening

Questions Abound On Future Relief As HHS Reopens Provider Fund
– Inside Health Policy

Manatt Health counsel Allison Orris spoke with Inside Health Policy about the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)’s recent reopening of the Provider Relief Fund, through August 28, for providers that have not received the full amount of their General Distribution Payment. She also discussed some concerns that Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program providers have with the metrics used by HHS to distribute funding. In particular, Orris notes the HHS calculates its general distribution based on a percentage of patient revenues, as a result “providers that treat high volumes of commercial patients are receiving the highest per-patient payment; providers that treat high volumes of Medicaid and uninsured are receiving the lowest per-patient payment.”
