Government and regulatory Senior Advisor Bruce Gyory discussed the 2021 mayoral race to replace mayor Bill de Blasio with the Gotham Gazette. The publication noted that Democratic candidates are offering wide-ranging platforms of their own as they try to represent themselves as the most qualified to bring the city back amid hardships stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic. Gyory explained that in 2013, things were pretty well, kind of in an equilibrium and kind of balanced, which enabled de Blasio to project universal pre-kindergarten as his signature idea of how to make things better. Gyory has also been quoted in The New York Times on this topic.
