Brief Description:

Manatt is looking for innovative, forward-thinking associates with a minimum of three years of real estate transactions experience to join our Real Estate Transactions & Finance practice, led by Anita Famili, recognized as a Next Generation Partner in real estate by The Legal 500 US, and also named in the 2020 and 2021 editions of The Best Lawyers in America.

If you are entrepreneurially minded, and a builder, and you are looking to work alongside nationally recognized leaders in their fields, this might be the right opportunity for you.

Manatt’s unique professional services approach provides a combination of legal services and strategic business services - with a team of lawyers, land use planners, real estate brokers, and business strategy consultants - to meet the needs of our clients. With significant depth and experience across most real estate asset classes and all phases of development projects, we help clients navigate complex matters involving mixed use developments, hospitality, construction, debt and equity financings, joint ventures, acquisitions, dispositions, affordable housing, leasing, public/private transactions, and loan restructurings.

Manatt’s Real Estate Transactions & Finance team works collaboratively across offices and practices and engages in a wide range of transactions across our industry sectors, including hospitality, entertainment, retail and mixed use projects, technology and digital media, cannabis, energy/alternative energy, financial services, and fintech. Manatt’s unique professional services approach coupled with our deep industry expertise allows us to build relationships and develop credibility with clients and, in turn, perform cutting-edge work to help guide them through a dynamic, ever-evolving legal and business landscape. The team works with clients ranging from institutional owners to entrepreneurial developers to large corporate/technology companies. Our clients include companies such as Meta, Jay Paul, Avanath, Lowe Enterprises, international hotel companies, LACMA, Dignity Health, the largest national specialty grocer, The Macerich Company and Westfield.

We are looking for candidates with broad experience in real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, exchanges, ground leasing, commercial leasing, financing, construction, development, joint ventures, secured loans and workouts, with experience in hospitality and CC&Rs a plus. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in negotiating and drafting closing purchase and sale agreements, commercial and ground leases and subleases, mortgage loan documents, development agreements, construction contracts, property management agreements and other real estate transaction documents. Joint venture and project finance, as well as hotel management and license agreements and CC&R experience is a plus.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of three years of broad transactional real estate experience
  • Excellent writing, research and communication skills
  • A self-starter with the ability to juggle multiple, diverse projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Team-oriented attitude with an emphasis on collaboration
  • Effective and efficient problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and proactively with confidence
  • Bar membership in good standing in the jurisdiction in which you plan to practice
