Crain's New York interviewed Manatt's Bruce Gyory, a senior advisor in the firm's Government & Regulatory Policy division, for an article on the reasons why New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has declined to endorse Hillary Clinton, who formally entered the presidential race. Asked why he was withholding his endorsement, the mayor said, "We need to see the substance."
Gyory called it a "rookie mistake" that could endanger de Blasio's mission to serve as spokesman for the liberal wing of the Democratic Party. Other top New York Democrats like Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand were quick to endorse Ms. Clinton's second bid for president.
