Named U.S. News' 2016 “Law Firm of the Year” for Music Law

Manatt has been named by U.S. News & World Report and Best Lawyers as the “Law Firm of the Year” for Entertainment Law – Music as part of the publications’ joint 2016 “Best Law Firms” rankings. This marks the second time Manatt’s Music group has earned U.S. News’ top distinction since the recognition launched five years ago. Additionally, the firm’s Entertainment and Media practice has been ranked nationally in Tier 1 since 2010.

The 2016 edition of “Best Law Firms” includes rankings in 74 national practice areas, with one “Law Firm of the Year” named in each area. Law firms are selected to receive the “Law Firm of the Year” designation by having an impressive overall performance in the rigorous research that U.S. News and Best Lawyers conduct for the “Best Law Firms” initiative, which includes the collection of client and lawyer evaluations, peer review from leading attorneys, and review of additional information provided by firms.

“It is an honor to have received this recognition for the second time since 2014,” said Gary Gilbert, co-chair of the firm’s Entertainment and Media practice. “With client and peer evaluations at the center of the ranking, it is a reflection of the exceptional and impactful industry work our music lawyers are doing across the country.”

Manatt has long been recognized as a leader in the music industry. The firm’s music lawyers provide sophisticated counsel on a range of matters to major participants in the business, including recording artists, songwriters, recording companies and independent record labels, music publishers, producers, and concert promoters.
