Former FBI Director Alleges Deputy AG Rosenstein Offered to Wear Wire in White House

Manatt’s Jack Quinn, a partner in the government and regulatory practice, appeared on CNN Tonight With Don Lemon to comment on claims made by former acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe on CBS’ 60 Minutes about acting Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

McCabe alleged that Rosenstein, not long after President Donald Trump fired former FBI Director James Comey in May 2017, offered to wear a wire into the White House. He also alleged that Rosenstein brought up the idea of invoking the 25th Amendment to remove President Trump from office.

Quinn said these comments from McCabe are “frightening…it gives you a sense of just how concerned these senior-level officials were about what was going on in our government.”

He also said the possibility of the President’s Cabinet invoking the 25th Amendment is “certainly implausible, given that it would require almost unanimity.”
