Utilities Plan for Carbon Regulations’ Return

Utilities Counting on Carbon Regulation to Return
– Bloomberg BNA Energy and Climate Report

The Bloomberg BNA Energy and Climate Report interviewed Manatt’s Craig Moyer, co-chair of the firm’s energy practice, for an article about Trump’s executive order rolling back the EPA’s carbon regulations for power plants.

Carbon dioxide regulation will likely be stalled or weakened under the Trump administration, but that doesn’t preclude future administrations from imposing new requirements, the publication reported. Many utilities will take a longer-term view, Moyer explained.

“If the utilities use this [executive order] not to consider the changing marketplace, they will be left behind and I don’t think most of them will do that,” Moyer said.
