In the 2019 edition of its prestigious list, the Daily Journal recognizes Manatt CEO and Managing Partner-Elect and privacy and data security leader Donna Wilson as one of the top cyber lawyers in California. This is Wilson’s second consecutive year being named to the list.
The publication notes that Wilson, who will take over as the firm’s managing partner on July 1, represents clients including banks, mortgage servicers and companies in highly regulated industries.
In her profile, Wilson discusses both the implementation of an integrated professional services model across the firm and building upon the firm’s uniquely supportive culture and sense of entrepreneurship. She also discusses how new laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act and the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation, are impacting both the industry and the practice.
“There are those who have already done the GDPR work, and now you have to tell them about the Privacy Act. Some aren’t in regulated industries, but they still will need a compliance system,” said Wilson. “It’s a good thing there’s a long lead-up to when the law takes effect.”
