Patterns of Care and Health Care Resource Use Among Medicaid-Enrolled Women With Recurrent or Metastatic Cervical Cancer

Manatt Health Senior Managing Director Anthony Fiori and Senior Manager Nathan Pauly co-authored an article for the Journal of Managed Care & Specialty Pharmacy in which they evaluated treatment patterns and health care resource utilization (HCRU) among Medicaid-enrolled women with recurrent or metastatic cervical cancer (r/mCC).

In the article, the authors noted that although a significant percentage of patients with r/mCC are insured through Medicaid, there is a lack of studies surrounding treatment patterns and associated HCRU. “As the r/mCC treatment landscape continues to evolve, there is a need to understand current real-world unmet need among patients with r/mCC enrolled in Medicaid,” the authors wrote. They provided a retrospective analysis examining nationwide Medicaid claims in order to assess treatment patterns, HCRU and patient characteristics among Medicaid-enrolled women with r/mCC, and concluded that new therapies for r/mCC should provide meaningful clinical benefit without substantially adding to health care resource use.
