Alison Gentry
Alison Gentry is an entertainment attorney in Manatt’s Entertainment practice, where she advises clients across the film, television, digital media, creator economy and emerging technology industries. She represents producers, production companies, financiers, writers, directors, talent, content creators, rights holders and technology companies in connection with the creation, development, financing, production, licensing and exploitation of content and intellectual property.
Alison counsels clients on a broad range of transactional and business affairs matters throughout the lifecycle of entertainment and media projects. Her work includes content development and production, rights acquisition, intellectual property licensing, talent and creator agreements, entertainment financing, distribution and commercialization strategies. She regularly helps clients navigate complex issues involving ownership, chain of title, rights clearances, guild compliance, backend participation structures and the protection and monetization of intellectual property, name, image and likeness rights, and other valuable creative assets.
As media and technology continue to converge, Alison also advises clients on emerging issues involving artificial intelligence, digital content, creator-driven businesses and new models for developing and monetizing entertainment properties. She works closely with clients to structure practical, business-oriented solutions that support both creative objectives and long-term commercial growth.
Before joining Manatt, Alison gained extensive experience working in the legal departments of the Writers Guild of America West, Abrams Media, Marvel Studios, MarVista Entertainment, and Schreck Rose Dapello.
