Allegra Smith
Allegra Smith is a consultant with Manatt Health in the Firm’s New York office.
Allegra advises clients on federal and state health policy, legislative strategy and regulatory developments. With deep experience across government and the private sector, she brings a nuanced understanding of the policymaking process, particularly in areas such as Medicaid, behavioral health, pharmaceutical policy and health-related social needs.
Before joining Manatt, Allegra served as a legislative correspondent to U.S. Senator Bob Casey, where she supported the Senator’s work on the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee. In that role, she provided policy analysis and vote recommendations across a wide portfolio, including public and private insurance, drug development, and maternal and child health. Allegra also led bipartisan negotiations, met regularly with stakeholders from across the health care ecosystem and authored in-depth policy briefings for legislative staff. She has also held policy roles at the U.S. House of Representatives, a national political advocacy organization and a boutique health policy consulting firm, where she supported clients in navigating Medicaid waivers and regulatory strategy.
