Amy Salerno, M.D.

Dr. Amy Salerno is a senior advisor for Manatt Health, an interdisciplinary policy and business advisory division of Manatt, where she provides research, analysis and advisory services on health policy for public- and private-sector clients.

A respected thought leader on health care policy and management with a focus on population health and health equity, Amy has extensive experience in health care administration, program development, and health services research and evaluation. Amy is also currently a practicing physician and a teacher of palliative care medicine.

Amy has worked with multiple states, hospitals, and start-ups, supporting clients to design and implement innovative programs that support health equity and improve health and well-being. She supports in-depth problem solving to ensure programs launch with success and the ability to monitor success. In addition to program design, she has supported clients on quality measurement including leveraging existing measures and creating new quality measures for both for monitoring and evaluation and for ongoing quality improvement.  

Earlier in her career Amy worked within academic institutions and health networks, shaping health policy with a focus on population health, community health and health equity in addition to operating as a clinician. She gained direct experience with alternative payment model development while interning in the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation; led the development of quality metrics used by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services; and worked as a hospitalist and primary care physician in the Indian Health Service of the Navajo Nation, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, multiple academic medical centers and a small private community hospital.
