Opportunity
Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP is seeking an experienced Intapp Applications Engineer to serve as the firm's primary technical owner for its risk and compliance technology ecosystem. This role is responsible for the administration, engineering, configuration, and strategic evolution of the full Intapp suite — including Intapp Open, Conflicts, Walls, Terms, Integration Builder, and Intapp Workspaces.
The Intapp Applications Engineer partners closely with the New Business Intake, Conflicts, and Legal Operations teams to deliver a stable, secure, and continuously improving platform. This position also leads the firm's migration of its on-premise Intapp environment to Intapp's cloud platform and plays a key role in identifying AI-enabled capabilities that advance firm risk management and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Administration & Ownership
Serve as the IT owner and subject matter expert for the full Intapp suite, including Open, Conflicts, Walls, Terms, Integration Builder, and Workspaces
Administer day-to-day platform operations: configuration, user and role management, data integrity, system health monitoring, and performance capacity planning
Manage and execute platform upgrades, patches, and release cycles in alignment with Intapp's release schedule and firm change management processes
Maintain accurate and current architecture diagrams, runbooks, support documentation, and configuration baselines
Oversee integration health between Intapp and adjacent systems including Elite 3E, document management, HR, and Active Directory
Engineering & Configuration
Design, build, and maintain workflows, forms, datasets, and rules within Intapp Open, Conflicts, and Walls using native configuration tools
Develop and maintain integration pipelines using Intapp Integration Builder; manage API, web service, FTP, and database integration endpoints
Configure and manage Intapp Workspaces to support matter-centric collaboration and lifecycle management across practice groups
Build and maintain SQL-based queries and reports to support operational reporting for the Conflicts and Intake teams
Develop, test, and deploy enhancements in partnership with business stakeholders, following the firm's SDLC, change management, and QA processes
Cloud Migration & Strategic Roadmap
Lead the planning and execution of the firm's migration from on-premise Intapp to the Intapp cloud platform, including scoping, dependency mapping, data migration, testing, and cutover
Evaluate and recommend new Intapp platform capabilities, AI features, and third-party integrations that address firm business needs
Build and maintain a multi-year Intapp platform roadmap aligned to firm IT and legal operations strategy
Maintain a strong working relationship with Intapp's customer success, product, and engineering teams to advocate for firm requirements and influence product direction
Stakeholder Partnership & Delivery
Partner directly with Conflicts, Intake, Risk Management, and Legal Operations leadership to analyze business processes and translate requirements into platform solutions
Deliver clear, audience-appropriate recommendations to IT and business leadership on platform improvements, risks, and investment priorities
Support training development and QA efforts for end users and support staff on supported applications
Collaborate with IT Security on data governance, access control, and compliance requirements within the Intapp environment
Follow firm ITSM practices including Incident Management, Problem Management, and Change Management using the firm's ticketing platform
Qualifications
Experience
7+ years of information technology experience, with 5+ years in enterprise application administration and engineering
3+ years of hands-on administration and configuration experience with Intapp Conflicts, Walls, Terms, and/or Intapp Open in a law firm or professional services environment
Demonstrated experience with Intapp Integration Builder or comparable integration/middleware platforms (e.g., MuleSoft, Boomi, Power Automate)
Experience administering Intapp Workspaces or similar matter/workspace management solutions is strongly preferred
3+ years supporting cloud or SaaS enterprise platforms, including migrations from on-premise to cloud
Technical Skills
Deep working knowledge of Intapp configuration tools including Forms, Workflows, Rules, Datasets, and Events
Proficiency with SQL Server, SQL query writing, and data reporting; familiarity with SSRS or comparable reporting tools
Working knowledge of integration patterns including REST/SOAP APIs, web services, FTP, and database-to-database connections
Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, Azure Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 in the context of SaaS platform integrations
Understanding of information security principles, data governance, and access control as applied to enterprise legal applications
Experience with SDLC methodologies and project/release management tools (e.g., Confluence, JIRA, Azure DevOps)
Awareness of AI and GenAI capabilities within legal technology platforms, including Intapp's AI feature set
Professional Competencies
Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders including attorneys and firm leadership
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
Self-directed and capable of working independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional IT and business teams
Critical thinking and structured problem-solving skills; comfortable with ambiguity and complex, multi-system dependencies
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience at an AmLaw 100/200 firm or comparable professional services organization
Intapp Certified Professional certification or completion of formal Intapp training programs
Experience with Elite 3E, iManage, or comparable law firm ERP and document management systems
Familiarity with New Business Intake and Conflicts of Interest processes and workflows in a law firm context
Experience working within ITSM frameworks (ServiceNow, Cherwell, or comparable platforms)
Exposure to legal technology AI tools and understanding of Intapp AI/Assist capabilities
The base annual pay range for this role is between $140,000-$170,000. The base pay to be offered will vary and depend on skills and qualifications, experience, location and will also take into account internal equity. A full range of medical, financial and/or other benefits dependent on the position will also be offered.
